16th Regiment Royal Artillery

16th Regiment Royal Artillery is a regiment of the Royal Artillery in the British Army. It currently serves in the air defence role, and is equipped with the Rapier missile.

The regiment also operates the counter rocket artillery and mortar system (C-RAM). C-RAM destroys enemy projectiles in flight[1].

In August 2007, 16 Regt RA relocated to St George's Barracks in Rutland from Woolwich. Its departure from the Royal Artillery Barracks where the RA had been based since 1716 was marked with a ceremony on 25 July 2007.[2]

Batteries

Whilst not strictly a Battery, the Joint Air Picture Provision to the Land Environment (JAPPLE) Unit also makes up part of 16 Regt RA, staffed equally by members of the Royal Artillery and Royal Air Force, and commanded by an RAF Squadron Leader.
